Frequently Asked Questions

What should we wear for the tour?

Dress warmly in layers, including insulated jackets, snow pants, gloves, hats, and waterproof boots. Don’t forget sunglasses or goggles to protect against glare.

You should arrive as prepared as possible. We do have a warming hut where you can change shoes and throw on your big jacket, but our bathroom is an outhouse so we recommend already having your base layers on.

Is there an age or weight limit for participants?

Our tours are family-friendly and designed to accommodate a variety of ages and sizes. Contact us to discuss specific needs for your group.

Can we meet and interact with the dogs?

Absolutely! Our friendly, champion dogs love attention and enjoy meeting guests before and after the ride.

Do I get to drive the sled?

We offer options for an adventurous tag-sled experience, where you can feel the thrill of driving a sled while your guide retains control of the dog team.

How many people can fit on a sled?

We have several sled options to suit your group’s needs. Groups of up to 4 guests will go out with a single team. We can accommodate up to 8 guests at a time, but groups of more than 4 need to call for reservations.

How long does the tour last?

Our tours are an hour and fifteen minutes. The mush lasts for 45 minutes. The remaining 45 minutes is spent meeting dogs, touring the kennel, getting geared up, and warming up after the mush.

Will there be opportunities for photos?

Yes! Our private tours are designed with photography in mind, offering plenty of stunning spots to capture your journey and the guides are here to help you get the best possible photos of your adventure.

Is prior experience required?

No experience is necessary! Our guides will ensure you’re comfortable and safe throughout the tour.

What makes this tour unique?

Our tour combines private, tailored experiences with an authentic 1900s aesthetic, world-class dogs, and guides who are passionate professional mushers.

How far in advance should we book?

You’re in luck! This is our first season operating in Colorado and as such aren’t already booked through the entire season. That being said, we recommend booking early to secure your preferred date and time.

How close is the ranch to nearby ski resorts?

Acorn Creek Ranch is conveniently located about 25-30 minutes from Keystone, Copper Mountain, and Breckenridge ski resorts.

How do we get there?

If you have your own car, driving is easy. Alternatively, give us a call and we can help you find transportation with a local shuttle service.

What happens if there’s bad weather?

We monitor conditions closely and will communicate any changes to your tour schedule. Safety is always our priority.
